Site milestone: consistency achieved

After what seems like forever and a day, I've finally gotten all the lyrics pages updated to the "new" site format. Maybe you didn't even notice they were still in the old style, but it ate at me like crazy!

So anyway - finally! All done!

reconstruction almost complete

The re-design is nearly complete...

All that remains are the lyrics pages, and there are about a ga-jillion of them to do and I will work on them as I can during the next week or so.

Hope you guys dig the style and the added functionality!

Five Long Years

I'd almost forgotten...this month (the 9th, to be exact) is the fifth anniversary of this site! I can't believe it's been this long, I really can't.

Thanks for making this site your #1 GT fansite out there, thanks for continuing to stop by after all these years!

Chris

I'm here to please!

Feeling ambitious after having just updated the pics section, I've re-done the Media page for you guys tonight. Eight songs now, all from a vintage late 70's era show. Take a listen!

Slow news month

Yes, it's been a slow news month. Haven't heard much of anything coming out of the Destroyers camp, nor have there been any articles, stories, or interviews that I can find. This would be the reason I haven't done any updating!

But fear not, I with ya! I'm not going anywhere and I'll keep my ear to the ground. As soon as I find some goodies I'll share them with you ASAP.

New Search capability

As you probably noticed when you arrived here, there is now a nice new google search box right on the main page. It's fully up and running, don't you worry. However, some of the results might come up a bit "off" in the beginning. I've changed the way I archive all of the news tonight, and it might take Google a week or two to index all of the new pages.

Give it a try! Hope you like it!

One Year Anniversary!

It was one year ago today that delawaredestroyers.com went online. Yay Me!

Of course, this site has had it's home at two previous addresses. All told, this site has been up since May of 1999.

Improved Streaming Audio

I think you'll find the streaming audio section a little improved. I've embedded the player in the webpage tonight.

This weekend I'll will do my best to get a "jukebox" style player going where there will only be one player with several songs instead of a player for each song. Oh, and I'll get some new tunes up for you, as well.

Hang tight!

Sorry for the down time

The site was moved to different server this afternoon and I didn't have time to check to see if everything was ok.

Turns out it wasn't ok!

I apologize for the all-day site downtime - luckily is was just a small glitch in a line of PHP code. All is well now.

Check out the "New Look" Guestbook

After having procrastinated for five months, I finally got the message board, er, guestbook to look like it's a part of this site. Same content, fresh new look. I know it's the least traveled part of the site, but maybe now the look of it won't drive people off. It's got the site color scheme, the header, and nav links at the top. Come on, go take a look and leave a message. Ya know ya want to!

Google Rank

Thanks to everyone out there in web world who has helped to make this site more successful than I ever thought possible!

Google nows ranks delawaredestroyers.com the 5th most popular GT site on the web. Rock on! Of course, it still sits behind Tero's site (which hasn't been updated in four years!!) and the site at queensu.ca which has hasn't existed for five years but which was the inspiration for this site. Anybody else out there remember the "name your kid George" contest or the little GT heads used to review the albums?

And while I'm naming links, let me acknowledge the important work of Ms. Louann's Man. He maintains a database of all the Destroyer shows. Please visit and support his site, Thoroly Destroyed.

Tweak

Okay, so maybe I was a little sleepy last night as I added the lyrics for the new album!

Going over my work today with fresh eyes, I was able to catch many slight errors and few biggies. As of five minutes ago, however, everything is patched up and should be a-ok. As always, please let me know on the message board if you find that a correction needs to be made...

New album lyrics have been posted

Hey hey all you rock and rollers out there!

I have spent the evening doing my webmasterly and super-fan duties by transcribing and posting for you the lyrics to the brand new album the very same day it was released.

Hope you're enjoying it as much as I am (more on that tomorrow), but in case you need a little help with the words, here ya go. Have fun!

New picture of Jon Paris & the guys

As the time draws near to the release of the new album, I'm trying to post something new here everyday. I'm trying to track down interviews and press releases and such, just to have them here all collected in one place. I like where this is all heading.

There are several improvements that I know need to be made, and everything in due time. The next two big improvements will be to the tour dates page and to the band page. Both of those are extremely lame right now. I promise, in the next month they will be updated dramatically.

Now for the most exciting news, at least for me...I'm adding a new pic of GT and the guys with Jon Paris. If ya don't know who Jon Paris is, trek on over to his homepage and learn. It's a terrific website, and it's only because of the generosity of the webmaster that I'm adding the pic. You all will enjoy it greatly. Jon and the Destroyers are long-time buddies, as some of you know. I was lucky enough to catch two or three pics of them together backstage while Johnnie Johnson played at the Madison Blues Festival a couple of years ago.

As you can see, I've made a major update to this News page. It's now utilizing Movable Type, the coolest content management system in the world.

I'll be posting items here far more often than in the past, and the posts will be categorized for your viewing pleasure.

Have fun and rock on!

One month anniversary

Badtown has been online for a full month now, and I'm very pleased with the response it's gotten. For the month of November, the hit count was over 30,000! When this site was at its previous address, it took two and a half years to get that number. How cool is that? GT fans...thank you! The site is coming along quite nicely as well. The disocraphy is complete, I added some new pics, and some problems with lyrics have been patched up. Also, although it's starting off slowly, the message board is coming along. Some of you are finding it and posting, but it may take some time.

DelawareDestroyers.com

In the midst of moving everything over to my new domain, appropriately enough, DelawareDestroyers.com. Very excited... Spruced up the splash page a bit and changed the navbar. No new content, yet! Got some more pics, and gonna add some bios.

Done with the lyrics!

The tour goes on, this month with BB King and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. The album is still indefinitely on hold...we must be patient!

Have just completed transcribing the last of the lyrics (incorrectly, of course!). The last song was the most recently released, "Christine." I also added a little jump menu to the home page for easy lyric access, hope you like it!

Fun Weekend

Well, hey! What a fun weekend it has been! This site was hacked, and whoever did it deleted all my files! So I've spent a very long time re-constructing. I made a few changes along the way, so I hope everyone likes them okay. The page should load faster now and be easier to navigate. There is George news, but I'm kind of in a hurry tonight to get everything finished. I'll post the news as soon as possible, but until then you may want to check out the recent message board entries concerning a brand new Anthology.
